The Eula Pirates are one of the best class a teams in the state, again this year. All high school's play basketball, but the Pirates are different in 1 very important way.

Eula doesn't play football in the fall, so the school's resources and the fans are concentrated more on basketball. The coach and the players say it's fun to be in a place where hoops is king.

Eula's Austin Bartlett says, "It's one of the best things you can feel. I mean, you come to work every day, and you know that your school is there to support you. Everyone's just around you to support you because when you come out to play Pirate Basketball you know it's for the school. That's just what you do."

Head coach Josh Fostel added, "It's very enjoyable as a coach to be at a place where basketball is very important, and place where the community places a lot of emphasis on it. You get parents that are involved. You get community members that are involved. You get gets that are excited to work, pretty much, year round." >>

The Pirates are 22-4 so far this season and undefeated in district play. They travel to Rotan on Friday night to take on the Yellowhammers.
