"It was scary, it was cold, I couldn't leave them," said Marsha Harris.

That's why Marsha Harris spent hours at the scene of an accident off of Highway 36 Friday night. She was driving home from buying groceries and turning onto her road when she and her son saw the accident.

"My mom-genes kicked in and I just started comforting the kids and getting them to sit down and just wait. And I was just there for them until the ambulance and everybody took them away," she said.

After calling 9-1-1, she stayed with the students and found ways to the comfort them.

"Just talked to them. And Calli, first thing she wanted to do was pray. So we prayed," Marsha said. "I just sat with them and just kind of joked around with them a little bit."

And Marsha says it was by chance that she was turning onto Potosi Road right after the accident happened.

"Cause I had seen a friend at Walmart and I had stayed a few minutes longer than I should have. And I think that god knew that I needed to be there to comfort the kids," she said.

But she's glad she at least had the chance to meet them.

"It was amazing to me to meet those kids. None of them were panicked. They were very brave young adults," said Marsha.

And Marsha says that helping people as she helped those in the accident could make all the difference.
