UPDATE: One Person Dead Following Haskell County Wreck

Yet another tragic car accident has claimed a life.

Officials in Haskell County have confirmed that one person has died following a wreck this morning south of Paint Creek, at FM 618 & FM 600.

An unknown number of others were transported to hospitals.

Details are very limited at this time. We will keep you updated on this developing story.

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to the scene of a one vehicle deadly crash in Haskell County.  This crash occurred Monday morning at 8:30 A.M. on Farm Road 618, 1.3 miles south of the intersection with Farm Road 600.

The driver is sixteen years of age.  He was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition with five other children in the vehicle.  The Expedition was headed north on Farm Road 618, traveling to school at Paint Creek ISD.  Due to the driver's age and inexperience, the vehicle traveled off of the roadway.  The driver over-corrected several times and the Expedition overturned, ejecting three of the six occupants.  None of those in the vehicle were wearing seat belts.  The driver and a 14 year old female and a 15 year old female were not injured in the crash.

 

Amber Conn, a 14 year old female from Stamford, Texas was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Dodson.  The body was taken to Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell, Texas.

 
4 year old Zander Elias and 11 year old Danica Elias, both from Stamford, Texas, were taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.  From there, the children were taken to Cook's Children Hospital in Fort Worth.  Both are listed in serious condition.

The weather was clear and the roadway was dry.  This crash is being investigated by Trooper Jimenez.
