They're more than an extra curricular group. They're like a family. A family that lost one of their own.

"It's been really rough on us. But, the loss of our sister has brought us closer together. It's helping, it's we're bonding in the place where she's missing. And I think it's a good thing," said Regan Dismukes, friend of Lindsey Smith.

ACU's Seekers of the Word was just one group of many who attended the chapel service to remember Lindsey Smith.

"She was as bright as the world," said Dismukes. "She was always happy and outgoing and bubbly. And she really brought this magical sort of spirit to the group."

"Sweet Lindsey Smith worked in our office," said ACU president Dr. Phil Schubert. "I've heard that she referred to me as "Schuby-Dooby," but she never said that to my face. And you know what, that's great."

Remembering all the happy moments, including a song that the Seekers would sing as part of a joke with Lindsey, singing to the tune of "Kum Ba Yah."

"Well, we would change the words to 'Lindsey Smith, Lindsey Smith.' And she would always be like, 'Oh, guys! Stop it!' But we would keep singing anyways because we knew it made her happy," Dismukes explained.

And though difficult for this family, among others at ACU, Dismukes says they have been able to take something away from the loss of their sister.

"I've learned that even though we lose someone very close to us, we still have each other to remember her," she said.
