Wylie Lady Bulldogs Jump In Polls, Stamford Boys Make Debut

By: Eric Boynton
Updated: February 4, 2013
The Wylie Lady Bulldogs jumped slightly in this weeks coaches poll. At the same time the Stamford Bulldogs made their debut in the Class A Div. I poll.

Stamford's (#25) debut comes along with the departure of the Munday Moguls, but some other teams were able to move up in the polls.

One of them was the Jim Ned Indians (#4) who jumped one spot in Class 2A. The Breckenridge Buckaroos (#9) weren't as fortunate after dropping one spot.

The Wylie Bulldogs (#5) held their ground this week in Class 3A, but the Wylie girls (#17) moved up one spot in this weeks polls.

In terms of the girls polls, Class 2A once again belongs to the Big Country with the Merkel Lady Badgers (#1) maintaining their grip on the top spot. The Jim Ned Lady Indian (#8), and Cisco Lady Loboes (#9) made the top ten. Meanwhile the Comanche Lady Indians (#11) came in just outside that group.

A total of three Big Country teams were able to make the top 25 in girls basketball. The Goldthwaite Lady Eagles (#17) jumped four spots from their spot last week. The Roby Lady Lions (#17) also made a big move this week from their previous spot at number 21 in division two. That's where we find the Cross Plains Lady Buffaloes (#21) this week. The Baird Lady Bears (#18) dropped this week in division two, but only a couple of spots.

As for the rest of the boys teams in Class A, the Eula Pirates (#3) stayed in the top five. Meanwhile the Throckmorton Greyhounds (#21) were also able to keep their spot this week.

The same can be said for the ACHS Panthers (#3), who once again maintained their grip on the third spot in the Small Private Schools classification.
