Inflamed and swollen lungs can make it difficult to breathe. To minimize attacks during the winter you should know your triggers. Cold air can exacerbate the condition, as can windy weather. Also, you should stay on long-term control medications. Don't forget indoor irritants too, things like smoke, scented candles and fireplaces. Doctors recommend a flu shot for everybody that has the condition. Good hand-washing and good hygiene is also important for people to remember, especially if they have asthma.
