ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' basketball teams will continue its homestand on
Thursday when Mary Hardin-Baylor comes to the Mabee Complex for an American Southwest Conference doubleheader.
Hardin-Simmons
will be having its Pink Night to raise awareness for breast cancer
research for Thursdays women's game. Fans are encouraged
to wear pink for the 5:30 tipoff.
The
Cowgirls have won five straight games and are now 11-8 on the year and
8-4 in the ASC West. HSU is second in the standings with
six games to play. UMHB has won three of four to improve to 5-14 overall
and 4-10 in league play.
HSU
is led by Alexis Popelar, who leads the ASC in scoring at 17.8 points
per game. The Cowgirls have been hit hard by a slew of
injuries and someone different has been stepping up each night. In the
last five games, five different people have set a career high in the
five games.
On
the men's side, the Cowboys have won four straight conference games and
are now 13-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play. UMHB
comes into the game leading the ASC West with a record of 17-3 overall
and 13-1 in ASC West play. The Cru is on an eight-game winning streak.
HSU
has had a balanced effort over the last four conference games, since
the defections of three players. The Cowboys have five players
averaging in double figures in those four games. Eric Taylor leads the
team with 13.9 points per game.
The men's game is slated for a 7:30 tip.
