APD: Family Hides in Home, Calls Police about Possible Burglar

Wednesday night at about 7:25 p.m., Officers Alfred Dixon and Dan Henning responded to a burglary in-progress call at a residence in the 200 block of S. Mockingbird Blvd. APD dispatch was contacted by a calling party that feared someone was breaking into their home from the rear of the residence. The calling party advised the call taker that the family had locked themselves in a room pending police arrival. The call taker remained on line with the calling party until officers were able to contact the family. As officers arrived on-scene, they spotted a male subject in the backyard attempting to make entry into the home and detained the subject. The preliminary investigation revealed that the subject appeared intoxicated and that a rear door window was broken. The family at the residence did not know the subject. The subject was arrested for two misdemeanor offenses: Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief.
Wednesday night at about 11:10, Officer Jacob Allred attempted a traffic stop on a motorist in the 2600 block of S. Clack Street. The motorist evaded Officer Allred in a maroon Buick LeSabre. The unoccupied vehicle was located moments thereafter at a nearby apartment complex and a male subject, matching the description of the driver that evaded, was observed by an assisting officer, Officer Jerimiah Torrez. Officer Torrez attempted to contact the male subject, but the subject immediately fled on foot and a foot-chase ensued. Several officers were on scene by this time and they assisted during the foot-chase and commanded the subject to stop on multiple occasions. The subject disobeyed those commands but was eventually captured and arrested after running for approximately 300 yards. A records check confirmed that the male subject had been previously convicted for evading. The investigation further revealed the subject was in control of medication for which he did not have a prescription. The subject was arrested for felony Evading Detention and for misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam).
Thursday morning at about 1:50 a.m., Officer David Humber contacted a motorist in the 3800 block of North 10 Street after a records check of the vehicle's registration revealed the vehicle was reported stolen out of Haskell County. The female driver was contacted during this investigation and a subsequent records check confirmed the driver had two outstanding arrest warrants out of Haskell and Stonewall Counties, each for the offense of felony forgery. APD dispatch helped Officer Humber confirm that the vehicle was involved in a criminal investigation for the felony offense of Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was arrested for her two warrants.
