Cases of Distemper Still Problem in Big Country

A warning for pet owners: cases of distemper are still turning up in the Big Country.
Last month, local veterinarians reported seeing an increase in dogs and puppies carrying the virus.
For the month of January, the Abilene Animal Shelter had five canines returned for distemper.
They also euthanized 14 dogs given to them by people who said they were sick.
Several areas in north Texas are currently seeing a outbreak of racoons carrying the deadly virus.
