Dozens of law enforcement, criminal and judicial professionals gathered Thursday to learn more about a crime that affected over six million people last year: stalking.

It was the main topic of discussion at today's West Texas Sunset on Stalking conference.

Most recently, several changes were made to the Texas Penal Code that deals with stalking.

The day-long event focused on a better understanding of what stalking is and how it's covered in the legal system.

The conference was sponsored by the Regional Victim Crisis Center.

January is National Stalking Awareness Month.
