APD: Man Drags Girlfriend from Home

Thursday afternoon at about 3:55, Officer Cory Valencia responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 3300 block of South 14 Street. An employee with the grocery store had notified APD dispatch that a female subject had been detained for alleged theft. Officer Valencia contacted the involved parties and his preliminary investigation revealed that the female subject was observed selecting a large quantity of meat products that she later concealed in a purse. The subject was contacted after passing all points of sale without making any attempt to pay for said items. Approximately $115 in stolen meat was recovered. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor Theft.

Thursday night at about 7:10, Officers Dan Henning and Jeff Farley responded to a disturbance in-progress call at a residence in the 5100 block of Fairmont Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a frightened calling party about a known male subject whom the calling party indicated was attempting to drag a female subject out of the residence. The calling party indicated that the male subject was allegedly very violent and had been drinking. Officers arrived to the scene and learned that the subject had left the residence. The subject was located in the apartment complex inside his vehicle and was detained. The preliminary investigation revealed that the male subject was the female victim's boyfriend and that the victim had been physically assaulted by the boyfriend during a verbal altercation. This incident was witnessed by two other persons. The male subject was arrested for misdemeanor Assault Family Violence.

Thursday night at about 8, Officer Bradley Hambright responded to a drunk driver call in the 3200 block of Rebecca Lane. A concerned citizen had notified APD dispatch concerning a motor vehicle that had just pulled into a parking lot after the citizen observed the vehicle swerving all over the road. The citizen first observed the erratic driving on Catclaw Drive and also provided identifying information about the vehicle. Officer Hambright arrived and made contact with the male driver. During this preliminary investigation, Officer Hambright observed a large container in the driver's lap. Also in Officer Hambright's view was a semi-automatic pistol that was in the vehicle's center console. The investigation further revealed that the container in the driver's possession held a small quantity of marijuana. The driver was arrested for two misdemeanor offenses: Unlawful Carrying Weapon and Possession of Marijuana.
