By: Press Release
Updated: February 1, 2013
Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced the re-appointment of State Representative Jim Keffer as chair of the House Committee on Energy Resources.

The Energy Resources Committee has jurisdiction over the production, regulation, transportation and development of oil, gas and other energy resources; energy efficiency and the development of alternative energy sources; and oversight of pipelines, pipeline companies and all others operating as common carriers in the state.

"I am pleased to re-appoint Rep. Keffer as Chair of the House Committee on Energy Resources," said Speaker Joe Straus. "Rep. Keffer successfully passed the nation's first hydraulic fracturing public disclosure law last session and his knowledge of the energy industry is needed during this time of increased oil and gas production."

Keffer's other assignments include the Natural Resources Committee and the Redistricting Committee.

"I am honored that Speaker Straus has entrusted me with such important assignments," said Rep. Keffer. "Texas is blessed with such rich natural resources. I am pleased to serve in overseeing the oil and gas industry, protecting the environment, and helping develop and conserve our precious water resources."

Rep. Jim Keffer represents House District 60 which encompasses Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Eastland, Hood, Palo Pinto, Shackelford, and Stephens counties.
