They were there showing off their karate moves. But for the Vortex Martial Arts team, their demonstation had a deeper meaning.

"She was my best friend Ann Marie," said Quentin Chafer.

"She was really fun," said Laura Camacho. "When I first saw her come into class, it was like we were already friends."

The group was raising money for their classmate, Ann Marie, who had just left the Tojo before she and her dad were in a serious car accident.

"We just saw them, we just saw her and her dad there," said Sensei Brieanna Dennison. "And they left and like 30 minutes later we got a call on what happened."

And while they performed, students and teachers both thought about how she'd want to be there and how good she is at marital arts.

"Really good, she was an orange belt," Quentin said.

"She was a great student, she really was," Brieanna explained. "She was always happy and bubbly. And she would always give us big hugs and everything."

But the entire team just has one wish.

"That she'll come back to Abilene," Laura said.
"For her to get better," Brieanna added.

Hoping that they can do whatever it takes to help their friend.
