Pizza Joints, Supermarkets Thrive on Super Bowl Sunday

It doesn't matter who you're rooting for, whether you're a football fanatic or jumping on the bandwagon, or if you're just in it for the commercials: we can all agree on one thing -- it's not Super Bowl Sunday without the food.

For Pizza Inn delivery driver Seth Futral, it all comes down to game day.

"It is the yearly holiday for delivering pizzas. This is the day of the year that it is the biggest, every time," Futral said on Sunday.

The pizza place stays full-staffed on Super Bowl Sunday, dishing out and delivering pies for dozens across the Key City all day long, especially when it gets to game time.

"It's almost a tradition. Turkey on Thanksgiving, pizza on Super Bowl," he said.

Over at United Supermarket, the aisles were packed with last-minute shoppers grabbing last-minute goodies for their big parties.

"I've been here almost five years and it's like this every year -- really, really busy and then when the game starts, it dies off," explained Martha Comardo, Assistant Manager at United on N. Willis St.

From the chips and dips to the football-themed desserts and the all-important bottles of beer -- food was flying off the shelves as people prepped Sunday afternoon.

"We'll have about 30 to 40 people in one little room, it's packed," said Ravens fan, Katie Blake.

"It's just my family all getting together to eat and enjoy the Super Bowl," added Richard Martinez, a 49ers fan.

Whether the party is big or small, whether your favorite teams were playing or whether you just watched for Beyonce -- the delicious duo of snacking and Super Bowl Sunday will always be an American tradition.
