(KVEO) The color is purple. The cause is ending abusive relationships among teens.

For the entire month of February students at Mission Memorial High School in Mission, Texas are bringing community awareness to their campaign 'Love Shouldn't Hurt.'

"Here at the high school level we kind of see it, we just don't say anything about it. So that really is what this month is all about," said Jasmine Santos, a Mission Memorial High School junior.

It is a problem, Vanessa Osorio knows too well.

"Actually, I have a friend who was in an abusive relationship her first two years of high school, and she didn't come clean until she broke up with the guy," said Osorio.

Knowing this, HOSA club students decided to take a small study about abusive relationships in their own school.

"It was just confined to one classroom, with every single period in that class. And the study showed that about one in three relationships there was abuse," said junior Giselle Castillo.
