A Coleman County couple has accepted a plea bargain on charges that they misused money donated to a volunteer fire department.

Ernie Chapman was a former chief of the Novice Volunteer Fire Department.

He and his wife, Donna, pleaded no contest to charges that they misused money donated to the department.

The presiding judge ordered both people repay $20,000 to the fire department and other fines and charges.

It's now called the Rough Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

They must serve an eight year term of deferred adjudication.
