The Breckenridge city manager talked with us a little earlier about an investigation that cleared Stephens County Sheriff Billy Wade. Wade had been accused of assaulting a female Breckenridge police officer. That incident was first uncovered back when Wade was running for sheriff and still with Breckenridge P.D.

Yesterday the city manager released a statement saying that the Texas Rangers never investigated the November 2012 incident because the people involved never filed a complaint. A Texas Attorney Generals investigation found no laws broken, and an internal police department investigation found no policies were broken during the incident, so no one will be disciplined.

It was back in November 2012 that the female officer had to call for help over the radio when she was involved in some kind of altercation with Wade after he had been drinking. They were at the local golf course after hours and Wade may have been tased. The Chief of Police would not comment on camera, but said he is ready to move on.
