The Odessa Bronchos upset the Cooper girls on Tuesday night in the last game head coach Kevin Long would coach from the bench at Cooper High School.

The Lady Coogs entered the second half up by four at halftime. Kianni Mitchell added to that lead with a basket in the third quarter.

A little bit later, Mitchell found the bottom of the net to keep the Lady Coogs in front.

Then Odessa started to make a rally, and especially Kali Cobos. A bucket by Cobos in the fourth quarter would give would give the Lady Bronchos a lead for the first time in the second half.

The Lady Coogs would hang around in the fourth quarter and cut the Odessa lead down to just four in the final minute thanks to a bucket by Mitchell.

Unfortunately for the Lady Coogs it wouldn't be enough, and the Lady Bronchos would hold on to pick up their first district win of the season.

Cooper on the other hand fell to 1-15 in the district, and 3-29 over all.

Tuesday night's loss also marked the end of an era for Cooper girls basketball. Seven games ago head coach Kevin Long was told he wouldn't be retained as Cooper's head coach.
