"I have grown up here and so I've seen all the exciting things that the mall used to bring, the events that it used to have and the people it used to bring in. so I'm just really excited to grow the community again," says Brittney Edwards, new property manager of the Heartland Mall.

Currently when you walk into the mall, you can't help but notice the vacant lots.

"We do have a lot of open spaces and I know that's a concern to a lot of people but we are in business . We are not closing down," explains Edwards.

Although the mall not look physically different now, Brittney tells me, new changes are coming very soon, all for the purpose of generating more traffic.

"I can promise that there's going to be a lot more events. we are going to increase traffic. we are really going to promote bringing new businesses into the mall," says Edwards.

Brittney is the owner of Dazzling Diva's and her optimistic can-do attitude is part of the reason she was chosen as the new property manager.

"They just wanted to see growth within the mall, they wanted new things to come, bring back the excitement and everything like that," she explains.

Most stores seem to be fully on board with the new changes.

"I think we was needing a change because things had kinda gone down at the mall and I look forward to things getting better now," says Billie Dickerson, owner of Peddlers.

"That'd be great, that be great for the mall. Like I said, a lot more advertising, a broader range of people, bringing them here. that's always a plus," says John Cooley, manager of FX.

But mall personnel aren't only ones who feel the mall needs a face lift.

"This mall needs someone to spunk it up I guess, revive it. And I think it would do Brownwood a lot of good, I really do," says reed.

Although some changes are already in the works, the process will take time.

"Rome was not built in a day and I continue to remind myself of that. But really the next couple of weeks I hope to see small changes, we gotta start small but really I'm gonna dive in head first," says Edwards.

Citizens of Brown County, you may have a bustling new mall to look forward to.
