APD: Disturbance Call Leads to Chase

Wednesday afternoon at about 5:30, Officers Cody Brown and Jordan Brown responded to a fight in-progress call at a residence in the 4000 block of Lynwood Lane. APD dispatch had been notified by a concerned citizen about several kids involved in a physical altercation outdoors whom the calling party believed were intoxicated. Another calling party also contacted APD about the fight and reported seeing several subjects involved. As officers converged to the scene, they learned about a vehicle that had left the scene with several subjects. Officers were able to locate three subjects in the 300 block of Lexington after locating the involved parked vehicle. The preliminary investigation revealed that all three adult subjects, two males and one female, were intoxicated. The investigation revealed that the female subject was involved in the physical altercation after playing a game that got out of hand and resulted in her being struck above her right eye. An assault report was taken, but the female victim indicated she did not wish to pursue charges. All three subjects were arrested for public intoxication and taken to county jail. A records check confirmed that one of the male subjects had a misdemeanor probation warrant for which he was also arrested.
Wednesday night at about 7, Officer Jacob Weise responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 3300 block of South 14 Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a loss prevention employee that an adult male subject was detained for alleged theft. Officer Weise contacted the involved parties and his preliminary investigation revealed that the male subject was observed selecting beer and had passed all points of sale with said merchandise before being detained at the store exit. Officer Weise also observed that the subject was intoxicated and had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Approximately $8.00 in stolen beer was recovered. A records check revealed that the male subject had five previous convictions for theft and prior convictions for public intoxication. Based on these previous convictions, the subject was arrested for felony Theft and misdemeanor Public Intoxication.
Wednesday night at about 11:50, Officers Scott Kuczkowski and Jordan Brown responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 1400 block of Yorktown Drive. As officers converged to the scene, the calling party kept the APD call-taker informed about a male subject involved in the disturbance. The call-taker was also advised that the subject had left the scene on-foot but then got into a motor vehicle. Officer Kuczkowski arrived at the involved residence and confirmed that the involved subject had now fled from the scene after entering a vehicle and driving off. Officer Brown located the involved suspect vehicle in the 3600 block of North 18 and attempted to stop the vehicle after activating his emergency lights. However, the male driver failed to stop. The driver continued driving, without any apparent speeding, to a residence a few blocks away in the 1500 block of Mimosa and finally stopped the vehicle after pulling in to a driveway. As soon as the driver stopped the vehicle, the driver fled on-foot and Officer Brown gave chase. Officer Brown contacted the driver as the driver began climbing a fence The driver was into custody after a slight struggle. Officer Brown's preliminary investigation revealed that the male driver had driven to his residence. The driver had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and also displayed indicators of intoxication. Officer Kuczkowski's preliminary investigation revealed that the male subject had allegedly assaulted a female victim by pushing her at the residence. Officer Kuczkowski took a report for Assault Family Violence. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided samples of his breath. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC to be 0.103 and 0.103. The male subject was arrested for two misdemeanor offenses: Evading Detention and DWI (with open container). The assault investigation continues.
