Updated: February 7, 2013
Briefings on the study will begin Friday, February 8 From 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., and 5 - 6 p.m. in the human performance laboratory (pe #214) at Hunt Physical Education Center and will continue each Friday until all openings are filled.
Protocols for exercise (low intensity cardiovascular training), nutritional selections, and portion-size have been shown effective in previous clinical trials for weight loss. The purpose of this study will be to determine whether exercise alone, diet alone, or portion size alone obtains the greatest change in body weight and waist circumference.
The duration of this trial will be 90 days. After a briefing, screening, and informed consent, random categorization will be completed. A body mass index of 26 or greater is required for inclusion of this study and patients with cardiovascular, heart disease or diabetes mellitus will be excluded.
At the meetings, Dr. Buck Willis and Dr. Paul Smith will discuss the experimental design, categorization, safety, risks, benefits, accountability, and security of all identifiable information.
You may RSVP by leaving a message on Dr. Willis' voice mail at 325-793-4993.
