Static electricity and winter time; they go hand in hand. Static can be a real nuisance, especially when it comes to your hair, but there are ways to control it.

Whether we blow it, tease it or just let it be, hair can take a real beating in the winter months, especially when it comes to static electricity. The cold dry weather really strips our hair of moisture and, coupled with the heated environment inside, it doesn't help at all.

A good way to avoid static hair is to cut your shampoo regiment in half during the cold winter months. Also, pick your shampoos carefully. Choose shampoos that are sulfate free and non-foaming. And moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Use products with vitamin e, Shea oil, coconut oil and natural carotene. When getting out of the shower, blot your hair, don't vigorously dry it with a towel. When you shake it dry with a towel, you are roughing up the cuticle which will only make the fly-aways worse. The home remedy of dryer sheets can also help, but don't over do them. In a pinch, throw one in your purse, pull it out and smooth it out.
