A 36-year-old tradition brought in locals for a plate of spaghetti.

The annual Abilene Cactus Lions Club spaghetti dinner was expecting around 500 people Saturday evening for their largest fundraiser of the year. The group was raising money for a children's camp and to also help as they support organizations like the Salvation Army, Hope Haven and the Noah Project. Club officials say it's all about being able to help other.

"Our motto is, 'We Serve.' And so, we try to help anybody that comes to our club and asks for help, if there's any way we can," said president Dean Baird. "And we always have an extra fund for emergency type people."

And, of course, the dinner featured the group's secret sauce recipe that has been passed down since the first spaghetti dinner.
