Stuffing envelopes may not be the most exciting job, but it's one way for Gail Russey to keep busy. It's also a way for her to give back to her community. She's been volunteering in Abilene for the past forty years and it never seems to get old or mundane. She's helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for programs involving the arts and even animals at the zoo, but they're not the only ones her service has helped. One of the people she's touched most is Lynn Barnett whose job depends on volunteers like Russey. She thinks Russey should be considered as the nations exemplary senior for the "Salute to Senior Service" contest because Russey knows how important even a menial task like sorting envelopes can be, and she's got plenty of votes to prove it.
If you know of a senior who has shown exemplary service in the community, you still have time to nominate them.
