Updated: February 12, 2013
Monday afternoon at about 3:15, Detective Russell Clark contacted a male subject at a residential parking lot in the 1200 block of Yeomans Road. Det. Clark was investigating the crime of forgery where numerous checks had been written on a closed account. The bad checks had been passed since December 2012. The investigation took Det. Clark to the apartment complex where he went looking for the subject and knew the subject to have active arrest warrants. Det. Clark arrested the subject on two theft-related warrants, one out of Brown and the other out of Eastland County. The male subject was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning. The investigation revealed that the subject had written several checks on the closed account at several locations, including convenience stores and restaurants. The subject was taken to county jail for his warrants and the forgery investigation continues.

Monday afternoon at about 5:05, APD dispatch was notified by a victim that her residence in the 1300 block of S. Pioneer Drive had been burglarized sometime during the day. The victim reported that items had been stolen from her home. Officer Robert Brannon responded to the call and took a report for felony Burglary of a Habitation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked window. The victim suspects a known person to be involved. Several items valued at approximately $1,130 was reported stolen. This investigation continues.

Monday night at about 10:50, Officer Jordan Brown contacted a motorist in the 1000 block of Glendale Drive for a traffic violation. Officer Brown contacted the male driver after the driver took an extra amount of time to pull over and stop. Officer Brown observed that the driver displayed indicators of intoxication and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. Officer Brown reported that the driver refused to display his driver's license and his proof of insurance during this preliminary investigation. The driver began to conduct standard field sobriety tests, but refused to continue the remainder of the tests after failing the first. A records check confirmed the driver had been convicted for DWI on two previous occasions. The driver was arrested for felony DWI and a blood sample was taken from the driver. The investigation revealed that the driver told Officer Brown that he had just finished drinking prior to driving home. This investigation continues.
