ASC HITTER OF THE WEEK
Howard Payne senior outfielder Carlton Brown (Arlington, Texas / Mansfield Legacy HS) went 7-for-16 with a home run, a triple, a double and seven RBIs to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 4-1 start to the season. He also scored eight runs and walked twice. Brown had three multi-hit
games and drove in at least one run in all but one contest.
ASC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Hardin-Simmons senior right-hander James Simmons (Abilene, Texas / AHS) earned the season-opening victory over Pacific Lutheran by not allowing
a run over six innings with nine strikeouts. Simmons scattered six hits
and walked just one batter.
