Eagles Sweep Season Series With Cooper

The Abilene High Eagles were able to hold off the Cooper Cougars in the Crosstown Showdown, Part 2, on Tuesday night at McMurry for a 55-45 victory.

Both teams struggled shooting the ball early in the game. Cooper only managed 4 points in the 1st quarter, Abilene High took advantage for a 12-4 lead heading into the 2nd period.

The Eagles went into the half with a 10 point lead over the Cougars at 24-14 at halftime.

The lead grew to as big as 16 points in the 3rd quarter, but Dante Lowry and the Cougars made it a 4 point game halfway through the 4th quarter. That's when the Eagles retook control to claim the 55-45 victory. Abilene High saving the best for last with 17 points in the final period.

Abilene High goes to the playoffs with a 21-8 record. They are the 3rd seed coming out of District 2-5A.

Cooper finishes the season with a 12-19 record.
