This crash, which took place on HWY 36 just south of the Abilene airport, took the lives of Jeffery Dane Davis, 27, and 20-year-old Lindsey Smith of New Braunfels who was attending ACU.
The truck Davis was driving collided head-on with the pickup carrying six ACU students and being driven by 20-year-old Robert Lloyd Braddock.
Reports show that Braddock had no alcohol in his system, while Davis' blood alcohol levels registered at 0.018, well below the legal limit of 0.08.
The blood samples now go to the DPS Lab in Austin, Texas for further drug analysis. The next series of tests are expected to take several months to complete.
