Investigation Underway in Haskell Home Invasion Shooting

On February 12, Tuesday night, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a shooting that occurred at 806 South First Street in Haskell Texas.

When officers arrived, they found a white male, later identified as Cody Wyrick, 22, was shot several times in the upper chest, leg and hand. Wyrick was transported to Haskell Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Hendricks Hospital in Abilene.

Primarily investigation indicates Wyrick kicked in the front door of the residence and forced his way inside. The homeowner confronted Wyrick with a handgun and told him (Wyrick) to stop or he would shoot him. Wyrick continued to advance towards the homeowner, getting shot several times.

This is an on-going investigation by the Haskell Police Department along with the Texas Rangers.
