This was February 18th, 2012. Our cameras were rolling as twelve year old Ashley Bolden, a type-one diabetic, met her diabetic alert dog "Perseus" for the first time.

The family had raised twenty-thousand dollars to purchase for the service dog, from a Virginia based company called Warren Retrievers.
But not one month later, everything changed. The family's home went into foreclosure.

"We were about to lose our house," says Ashley's mother Jennifer Bolden. "It was actually going to be auctioned off the day after Ashley's birthday."

Unsure of her financial future, Bolden contacted Dan Warren, owner of Warren Retrievers. A man she had never met, but one who said his customers were like "family".

"He says family doesn't let that happen to family," said Bolden.

Without hesitation, Warren paid enough money to get the Bolden's home out of foreclosure. But what the family didn't know at the time, was how that generous favor would continue to haunt them.

"We were just thrilled! He had saved our house. But he used it over me the whole time," says Bolden.

The Bolden's had signed a non-disclosure contract with Warren. Little by little, they began to discover that Dan Warren may not have told them the truth about their so-called "service-dog".

"I actually found out Perseus' Dad had his health clearances about three-months after we got Perseus. So he wasn't cleared for the litter before us or after us," said Bolden.

They also found out they weren't alone.

"He doesn't care about the people,he doesn't care about the dogs, he just wants the money," said Bill Kennedy.

Kennedy is a retired veteran and diabetic from Winters. He says Warren prevented him from purchasing a dog after Kennedy started asking questions about the dogs.

"He wasn't running a business, he was out after people's money," said Kennedy.

The Bolden's say they feel standing up for what's right and speaking out against Dan Warren sets a good example for their children.
Kennedy says he wants Warren's service dog company to be investigated.
