CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The McMurry University men's and women's swimming teams will close out the 2012-13 season this weekend at the prestigious, three-day, Liberal Arts championship held at Coe College, beginning Thursday.

In the land of corn, caucuses, and Field of Dreams, the War Hawks will be hoping to heat things up at this annual event on its schedule. McM head coach Bev Ball has numerous swimmers ranked highly entering the competition, especially on the men's side where the War Hawks are hoping to finish in the upper echelon with her young roster.

Freshman Kamron Salinas finds himself ranked in the top-5 of three events. The Somerset, Texas native is ranked No. 2 in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.53), No. 4 in the 200 individual medley (2:04.83) and No. 5 in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.30).

Fellow frosh Luis Aguilar is among the top-rated entrants in two events:  the 100 and 200 butterfly. In the 200 fly Aguilar is the second-seed (2:01.96), while holding down the No. 3 spot in the 100 fly (54.66).

McMurry will also have a strong contingent in the backstroke events.  In the 100 backstroke, the War Hawks have the Nos. 3-5 seeds in sophomore David Bowers (56.47), freshman Kent Grimes (56.55) and freshman David Winget (57.16), respectively.

Bowers and Grimes are also ranked third and fourth in the 200 backstroke.  Bowers has an entry time of 2:03.73, with Grimes fractionally back at 2:03.85.

McM's 200 and 400 Medley Relay quartets are also seeded second and third, respectively.

On the women's side, while the War Hawks will be few in numbers, Ball is hoping for solid individual efforts. Versatile freshman Emma Donaldson garnered the team's highest seeds with a No. 10 in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.03) and a No. 16 in the 200 individual medley (2:24.87).

Samantha Spain was tabbed No. 20 in a crowded (60-plus entrants) field for the 50 freestyle (27.03).
