Now an exotic gettaway and mother/daughter reunion has quickly turned into a vacation nightmare.
"Shes been in the military and you know stayed out you know 7, 8, 10 days on the night maneuvers and she says this is about the worst thing shes been on," said Billy Donn Holcolm.
His wife, Whitney Holcolm is stuck on The Carnival Triumph. The ship is stranded in the middle of the ocean after a fire ruined the ships propulsion system.
It's not the kind of news her husband Billy Donn Holcolm expected to hear when he recieved a call from her.
"Upset, crying, I could hear her mother in the background talking to her husband and she was upset and crying and she said it was about the most horrible thing shes ever been on," said Holcolm.
He said, "She said that they were sleeping in tents and sleeping bags and on the deck they werent allowed into their rooms, toilets were overflowing, they had already run out of food"
Thats the last conversation he had with his wife. Two days later, all he can do is dial her number and pray for an answer.
He has had to explain to his kids why mommy isn't home yet.
"When she comes back, I want to give her a kiss and a hug," said Cooper Holcolmb, their four year old son.
Billy says this is will probably be the last vacation they'll spend apart.
"Normally we dont spend any time apart were always together in everything we do. She's probably not going to want to leave the house after this," he said.
For now they wait with a card in hand, ready to wecome their mom and wife back home.
Passengers on The Triumph are expected to arrive in Mobile, Alabama tomorrow evening.
Some, including Holcolmb will then be flown to Houston. All transportation costs will be covered by Carnival Cruise Line.
