The folowing is a photo taken of the crashed dual-engine Beechcraft Duke that went down around 10:30 Thursday morning. DPS has released the following statement regarding the cause:

Frank Leroy Bell W/M, 75 years of age from Tuscola, Texas was flying his 1970 A60 Beech two engine airplane when he ran out of fuel and crashed while attempting to sit the plane down in a plowed field.  The plane crashed short of the plowed field, hitting mesquite trees nearby. Mr. Bell was not injured. The FAA has been notified and are en route to the wreckage to investigate.

Update: Pilot Helps Emergency Personnel Locate Crash

The plane involved in the crash is reportedly a dual-engine Beechcraft Duke.

The pilot radioed as he was going down that he was crashing, and then radioed he had crashed, but was ok.

A pilot flying a Cessna saw the plane going down and circled the scene, helping emergency crews and first responders find the pane.

The pilot flying the Beechcraft was Leroy Bell who was forced to land due to an inflight emergency.

Bell survived the crash with no serious injuries, though his plane is no longer flyable.

Original Story

Reports are coming in of a plane crash just north of Elmdale.

The plane landed in a field within one mile of the Hamby Fire department and a Half mile southeast of HWY 351.

Emergency vehicles are on the scene.

The aircraft is thought to be a small plane and not a commercial aircraft.

Emergency personnel on the scene have reported the pilot exited the airplane of his own accord and is walking about.

We will post more information when available.
