The Prevention of Future Wildfires

Today the Texas A&M forest service held it's 12th annual Wildfire Academy.
65 students are participating in the 4-day academy, including 16 volunteers fire departments.
It focuses on wild-land firefighter training and all the contributing factors that cause the fires to expand and create so much damage.
Some attending the course may be experienced urban firefighters but according the forest service, tackling wildfires is a completely different animal.
"Major difference is a wildfire is large and driven by weather events. It's difference than a house fire, you can't always surround the fire and put it out or you don't have water supplies. It's more like a military operation than it it putting out a house fire," says Phillip Truitt, a wild-land urban interface specialist.
Now clearly the biggest factor in the development of the wildfires is the weather and although we can not control the weather, the Texas a&m forest service says they can give the proper tools necessary to learn how to control the fire and prevent it from damaging any future homes or lands.
