For the first time in a year and a half, nine-year-old Triston Galvan is heading back to school.

"It's different to say the least because I'm used to him being here all day with me and so now I think I'm having a little bit of empty nest," says Heather Duncan.

It may take some getting used to, but Duncan realizes the benefits of letting Triston get back into his routine.

Duncan says, "This is what's best for Triston, this is what's best for us. You know Triston needs to start leading a normal life."

Even though it is his first week back, Triston's teacher says he is already settling in.

His teacher tells him, "Triston I'm going to pull your shirt down, make sure you're nice and comfortable."

Judging from the z's Triston is catching, going back to school is obviously going to  take some getting used to.

His mother says, "School is definitely wearing him out."

But that is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, no one said doing school work, and playing with classmates would be easy.

"I think he's really enjoying it," says Duncan.

By the time the bus drops him off at home in the afternoon, Duncan can tell just how much fun he had by the look of exhaustion on his face.

After a long day of learning, it is hard to tell who is more excited to see the other.
