Wylie Girls' Season Ends In Defensive Struggle

By: Eric Boynton
Updated: February 15, 2013
The Wylie Lady Bulldogs quest for another state title came to an end Friday night against Levelland.

It was a defensive struggle right from the beginning. Eventually, Brittany Brewer would get Wylie on the board for the first time.

A short time later, Levelland would respond with a three-pointer by Sydney Shakespeare to give Levelland a one point advantage.

Wylie would also find the bottom of the net from beyond the arch. A shot by Taylor Rickman would keep the Lady Bulldogs in the game early.

A short time later Rickman would turn defense into offense after getting a steal, and then the lay-up to follow.

It would come down to the end, but a block by Levelland in the closing secons would seal a 42-37 victory.
