A Father's Pain

It happened 10 months ago, but this father remembers it like it was yesterday.

"The car hit right here was the tree was standing. And the car ended up at least 30 feet from where the car actually hit the tree," says Rocky Flores, father to Brianna Comacho.

The accident scene is now barren. All that remains is a memorial to Brianna Comacho and Alexus Flores.

"We dedicated two white crosses on behalf of mothers against drunk driving to remember the two girls that were taken too early, too soon," says Flores.

The cross is located just feet from where Brianna took her very last breath. Although it's very painful, her father says the constant reminder is a necessary pain.

"It has to be an eye opener for certain people. Kids, adults, it has to stop at some point," explains Flores.

The United States leads the world in drunk driving accidents and the statistics are truly terrifying.

"1 in 3 people will be affected by drunk driving in their lifetime," says M.A.D.D. victim advocate Amanda Eldredge.

And it's effects are permanent.

"I don't see when the healing will actually start. Because we're just waiting for them to come through the door," says Flores.

Although Brianna and Alexus are now gone, rocky wants to be sure their death was not in vain.

"All I gotta say is think before you actually do something. You're gonna hurt someone else or you're gonna hurt your own family, you can hurt yourself," says Flores.

His pain will continue on with the hope a stranger's pain never begins.
