DPS was called to the wreck just after ten Saturday night out on Highway 277 in Haskell County, about four miles north of Weinart.

A Mustang was traveling southbound in a northbound lane, and hit another car head on.

One of the passengers, Dawn Carpenter, 49, was killed.

The driver of the Mustang, Jesus Ortiz, 51, is currently in the hospital, along with two others--the driver of the other car, James Carpenter, 58, and passenger, Della Ritchie, 71.

DPS says everyone was wearing seat belts at the time, and the weather was clear.

Investigations continue.
