Boyfriend Arrested in Connection with Baby Consuming Meth

Police have captured a man in connection with the injuries suffered by a baby.

Last week, it was reported that an Abilene mother was arrested after her 13-month-old boy was found unresponsive. After the baby was taken to the hospital, tests showed he had ingested methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate that Zachary Watson was the one who found the 13-month-old unresponsive and in a seizure-like state at the begging of this month.

The boy was taken to Hendrick Medical Center where he underwent surgery. The toddler had bruising to the face and a head injury. He was then transferred to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.

Watson was charged with endangering a child.

Lacey Nicole Spykes is the mother of the baby and was arrested last week on the same charge.

Both Spykes and Watson told police that they used meth in the presence of the child in their south Abilene apartment.

Police say both of them denied the possibility that the baby could've gotten to their illegal drugs.
