Updated: February 18, 2013
Saturday morning at about 3:20 a.m., Officer Jeremy Nell responded to assist Officer Quint Woody with a vehicle collision investigation at a business in the 3600 block of North 1 Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles were at the businesses drive-through when a third vehicle bumped into the rear of a vehicle, causing that vehicle to bump into the rear of another vehicle. Officer Nell contacted the male driver of the vehicle that caused the initial collision. Officer Nell smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the driver. The driver conducted standard field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The male driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC to be 0.114 and 0.113. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor DWI. Damages to all three vehicles involved were minor and no injuries were reported.

Sunday morning at about 3:40 a.m., Officer Brady Broyles contacted a motorist in the 1600 block of North 11 Street for a traffic violation. During his preliminary investigation, Officer Broyles contacted two subjects and was assisted by another officer. While Officer Broyles was running record's checks, the assisting officer observed a male subject inside the vehicle shoving something down under his seat. The assisting officer opened the door and observed the subject attempting to shove pills under the seat. The subject was detained and the investigation revealed that the pills were medication for which the subject did not have a prescription. The subject told officers that the pills belonged to him. The male subject was arrested for misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam).

Sunday night at about 10:25, APD dispatch was notified of a robbery that had just occurred at a business in the 700 block of Grape Street. The calling party, an employee at the business, informed APD that he had been robbed by a man that threatened to shoot him and that the man had fled with cash from the register. Officers responded to this robbery call and were given identifying information about the male suspect and that the suspect had fled on foot. Officer Carye Adkins spotted the suspect approximately two blocks away. When Officer Adkins attempted to contact the suspect in the 900 block of Grape Street, the suspect started running, but was detained. The suspect was subsequently identified as the suspect that had entered the store and made physical threats towards the employee that he had a gun and demanded money. The preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect was in possession of a large quantity of cash. The suspect was arrested for aggravated robbery.
