The Abilene High Eagles start their run in the Class 5A playoffs on Tuesday night against El Paso Bel Air.

Head coach Brian Woodard's team is riding a 6-game winning streak going into the playoffs, but they lost guard Nate Estrada in their victory over Cooper.

It's a tough loss, but the team says they can't worry about that and keep moving forward.

"He's a big reason we did as well as we did.The kids are going to have to step it up and collectively get it done. It's not easy, but we're built on the foundation that it's not about one kid. You know, he went down against Cooper and the guys stepped up and got it done as a team. That's how we've got to approach it," said head coach Brian Woodard.

"This is  what we signed up for. Somebody goes down, somebody's got to pick up. It's a team game. There's no one person. Yeah, that would help if we had him, but everybody steps up on this team anybody can play any position," said Jammie Lockett.

"For those guys we've got to adjust, and keep going. He's on the bench with us to keep us going, but  it's just work hard and keep pushing," said Brennan Francis.

The Eagles game is at 5pm in Monahans. The Eagles finished the season in 3rd place in District 2-5A. El Paso was the runner-up in District 1-5A.
