Update on Victim of Home Invasion Shooting Near Tye

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office Tuesday released information on the condition of the victim of a home invasion shooting that occurred just south of Tye on February 14.

The update, provided to the Sheriff's Office by CID investigators, says that as of Monday, February 18, the victim was still in the hospital in critical condition.

One of the men who broke into the home through a window shot the victim in the neck at close range with a shotgun while the other intruder was waiting outside.

Two men were arrested for the crime: Donald Ray Grooms, 28, and Billy Leroy Ammons, 34.

No further updates, including the victim's name, have been released at this time, but we will keep you up to date as more information is made available.
