Update: More Information on Arrest of Suspect in Attempted Armed Robbery

Update

More information is coming in about a robbery and pursuit of an armed suspect who was just captured around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect attempted to rob a patron in the parking lot of the McDonald's on North 1st at gunpoint, then fled toward North 10th.

The suspect threw his gun away near the 3500 block of North 10th and it was around this area that the gun went off and was heard by a nearby officer.

The suspect then continued to run toward the Walgreens on North 10th and Willis before being captured and brought into custody near the YMCA.

The subject is in custody and police have recovered the weapon.

APD is on the lookout for a man with a gun.

An officer heard a shot fired and APD began to pursue the suspect on the 3500 block of North 10th.

The man apparently was fleeing a robbery attempt at the McDonald's on North 1st.

At this time, there is no further information, but we are keeping in contact with authorities and will keep this story up to date as detail emerge.
