5 girls teams from the Big Country entered Tuesday night with a shot to advance to the Regional Tournament. All 5, Merkel, Goldthwaite, Baird, Highland, and Eula, got the job done.

The Merkel Lady Badgers entered the night as the 2nd ranked Class 2A team in the state, and they are still alive. The Lady Badgers outscored Sonora in the regional quarterfinals, 77-67. They go to the Regional Tournament in Midland starting on Friday.

The Goldthwaite Lady Eagles had a fight on their hands all night long in Dublin against Santo. The score was tied at 30 going into the 4th quarter, but the Lady Eagles outscored Santo 16-11 in the final frame to post a 46-41 victory.

In Class A Division II, the #18 Baird Lady Bears jumped out to a good sized lead against Guthrie, but it didn't last too long. Baird holds on to beat the Lady Jaguars, 40-37.

The Eula Lady Pirates took on Paducah in the regional quarterfinals and came out with the victory up in Hamlin. The Lady Pirates advance to the next round with a 45-41 victory over the Lady Dragons.

The Highland Lady Hornets had the toughest test of all with a game against 16th ranked Water Valley, but the Lady Hornets showed they were up to the challenge. Highland advances to the next round with a 40-32 victory.

All 4 Class A teams, Goldthwaite, Baird, Eula, and Highland, are scheduled to play the Regional Tournament in Abilene at ACU's Moody Coliseum.
