Updated: February 20, 2013
A SKYWARN training class is scheduled from 9 a.m. 'till noon Saturday, February 23 at
Abilene Christian University (ACU) in the Hart Auditorium.

The auditorium is located in the Onstead-Parker Bible Studies Building on the ACU campus just behind the big tower.

SKYWARN storm spotters are volunteers trained by the NWS to "identify features that could lead
to a tornado." In addition, these men and women provide valuable real time information on all severe weather phenomena like tornadoes, hail events, wind storms, and flooding to the NWS.

This information is used to protect our citizens from the hazards associated with severe weather. SKYWARN members include amateur radio operators, local law enforcement, firemen, media personnel, and ordinary citizens from all walks of life.
