By: Officer George Spindler, APD
Updated: February 20, 2013
Tuesday afternoon at about 4:35 p.m., Officer Mary Guitar responded to a stolen vehicle call. APD dispatch had received notification that a stolen vehicle being driven by a known subject had been spotted. Another reporting party to this incident had also notified dispatch and informed dispatch that they followed the stolen vehicle to a residence in the 1200 block of Yeoman's Road, but then lost sight of the occupants who had exited the stolen vehicle. Officers arrived at the apartment complex and located the stolen vehicle. Two subjects linked to the investigation were eventually located during this preliminary investigation. One of the subjects, an adult male, told officers that he had been inside the vehicle and that he took the vehicle. However, when this subject was given several opportunities to provide his real name and date of birth, the subject lied about his identity. The other subject was a female juvenile. A records check confirmed the juvenile had an outstanding arrest warrant for Absconding While On Probation. The male subject was arrested for felony Theft and for misdemeanor Failure to Identify. He was taken to county jail. The juvenile was arrested for felony Theft and for her warrant. She was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. This investigation continues.

Tuesday afternoon at about 4:45 p.m., APD dispatch received notification from several concerned citizens about a possible road-rage incident where people had stopped their vehicles and were seen yelling. Officer Katie Snell responded to the disturbance at the intersection of South 7 and Jefferson Streets. Officer Snell contacted several involved parties, including a witness. Officer Snell's preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect had left the scene. She contacted a male victim, age 62, that was an occupant in one of the involved vehicles. The victim alleged that he was confronted at his vehicle by the suspect and that the suspect used the vehicle's door during the assault by slamming the door into the victim's face, causing the victim injuries and pain. The victim had injuries consistent with the assault allegation and this investigation continues. No vehicle crashes were reported. A report for misdemeanor Assault was taken.

Wednesday morning at about 12:15 am, Officer Jordan Brown contacted a motorist in the 1000 block of Westwood Drive for a traffic violation. Officer Brown reported smelling the odor of burning marijuana as he exited his vehicle and went to contact the driver. Officer Brown contacted the male driver and observed smoke billowing out of the car window and the associated smell of burning marijuana. The driver told Officer Brown he was in possession of some marijuana and a baggie containing a small amount of marijuana was seized. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana
