The American Southwest Conference Men's tournament is coming up this weekend.

The Hardin Simmons Men's team is struggling as they enter the postseason this year. Head Coach Craig Carse's team has lost 4 of it's last 6 games and they fell to 3rd place in the West Division behind Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia.

That is all out the window now, though. A nice 3 game winning streak this weekend would give them their 1st Conference Men's Title.

"Well, two years ago we made the Semi-Finals in the Conference Tournament, and that was a big deal because that was our first year in the tournament. Hardin Simmons University has never won the American Southwest Conference in Men's Basketball. They've never participated in the NCAA tournament in Men's Basketball. They have more NCAA tournament appearances than the other school put together in the other sports. So it was a big deal to get to the Tournament and the Semi-Finals last year." Says Head Coach Craig Carse.

The Cowboys open the tournament on Friday against UT-Tyler. The Men's tournament is being played in Richardson.

The Women's tournament starts on Friday in Brownwood. The Hardin-Simmons cowgirls, who were 3rd in the West, play UT-Dallas in the 1st round at 5.

The Howard Payne ladies won the West and open up against East Texas Baptist.
