No New Gun Laws?

Gun control opponents are hailing a move by the city of Marco Island, Florida as a victory.

Last month, President Barack Obama made his mark on the issue of control, calling for sweeping reforms like more background checks, an assault weapons ban and elimination of armor piercing bullets.

Marco Island City Council decided Wednesday night it isn't listening.

"We hope this catches fire," said Jared Grifoni of the Libertarian Party of Collier County.

Grifoni helped craft the resolution, which calls on Collier County and the state legislature to ignore any law restricting the right to bear arms.

"The city of Marco Island and any other municipality has the authority to dictate how and when its resources are used," Grifoni said.

The resolution also states Marco Island will not use any city resources like funding or police to enforce any federal regulations.
