Leaving your child in someone else's care is never easy.

"I know every parent love their children. We want to be there for them and give them that special attention, you know that special love," says Candy Swanner.

The child care begins when children are only weeks old.

"There are many people who can not afford to be off work, can't take 6 weeks or 12 weeks off. Some of those moms have to get right back into the work force," says Cynthia Pearson.

From nap time to snack time, these children are taken care of not only by paid employees, but also volunteers.

"Those are senior adults that are through the foster grandparent program and they come and volunteer. They're like a wonderful set of extra hands," she says.

Day nursery of Abilene has three locations here in the city and it's actually the largest child care facility. But what sets it apart is not it's size but the fact that it's a non-profit.

"Our sources of funding are parent fees primarily and then some contracts, grants, fund-raising," says Pearson.

The nursery has been very successful and they plan on celebrating it's 40th birthday in a Superbowl big way.

"We are very excited that Peyton Manning has agreed to come and be our speaker for our celebration," says Pearson.

And it all revolves around the children.

"He's done some wonderful things for children too, through the Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. And established a true heroes program too," she says.

After all, heroes lead the way for our future leaders.
