Thank goodness it's Friday, because work stinks for the employees at the Jones County Appraisal Office.

"You almost couldn't stand it, and had to walk back outside", says Kim Mcemore, chief appraiser.

After taking a big whiff inside the office,  it didn't take long for the ladies to figure out--they had been skunked.

"I don't know if it's coming through our vents, or if he's underneath our building, but it's just horrible", explains Mclemore.

Vicky Moreno caught a glimpse of the smelly suspect wandering through the grassy area just yesterday, who she not-so-affectionately named.

"I saw it yesterday afternoon, and i just hollered through the back door, it's Stella!", exclaims Moreno.

And it seems as though Stella the skunk is a repeat offender.

"It was going towards the road and I started chasing it away, and then I saw in come in [an abandoned shack], and stayed for a little bit. But I came back later to peak through the window and it was gone", says Moreno.

It's mating season, which means it's not uncommon to see skunks, even, during the day. In fact, animal control was just leaving another skunky situation when they showed up Friday morning.

"We have skunks around here all the time", says sergeant Lumpkin of Anson PD.

Though it makes for a breezy day indoors, employees set up heaters, and were determined to power through the pungent perfume left behind by the sneaky skunk--and animal control, won't rest until Stella is behind bars.

Animal control's trap contained peanut butter to attract the skunk. They tell us they hope to release the critter into the wild, as long as it doesn't appear viscous or diseased.
